BOGOR-TODAY.COM, BOGOR – Rice plants in a rice field area of 5000 square meters or 0.5 hectares in Tegalwangi Village, Jasinga District, Bogor Regency experienced crop failure. The farmers said that the rice harvest failure they experienced was caused by rat pests and a lack of fertilizer. As a result of this incident, the farmers experienced a decline in turnover of up to 50 percent.
Saminah (60), a farmer from Cilengkong Village said that under normal conditions or when the harvest arrives, she can get 50 bunches of rice. One bunch of rice is equal to two kilograms or about three liters of rice.
He admitted, they had made various efforts, including hunting rats. However, these efforts have not succeeded in reducing the attack of the rat pest.
“This incident has happened since a month ago, even though the rice was ready to harvest. However, all of them suddenly attacked by rat pests. Even though we have tried to eradicate it by burning straw in the rat holes,” said Saminah.
Another farmer, Uminah (52), a resident of Cimanggu Village, said that another reason for the decline in her rice yields was the lack of fertilizers, which are difficult to obtain at low prices.
“There are no farmer groups (poktan) here, they are in the sub-district. Unlike in other areas, which often receive assistance with five kilograms of fertilizer, soybean seeds and rice seeds. expensive subsidies,” he said. (Didin/CR)
