This is a simple getaway for you to have even a one day trip to the islands, but well recÂommended to have at least 2 nights staying at one island of the Thousand Islands located in the Special Province of JakarÂta. Untung Jawa islands is the nearest islands you can reach from any area in Jakarta and surroundings. To those having no private vehicles, you can use good public transportation such as communter line from Depok or Bogor heading to the final destination at Duri train station where you can go with the mini taxi to Tanjung Pasir harbor. You must take 2x of that mini taxi going to Tanjung Pasir as final terminal.
It will takes 40 minutes to reach the harbor. Waiting for the wooden boat that will take you to the islands for just 15- 30 minutes crossing the sea depends on the weather and ocean waves. The ticket is beÂtween 15K to 20K per person. Feel the breeze of the ocean when the wooden transport carries you to the relaxing place.
Untung Jawa islands is supÂposed to be a prototype islands for the Maritime Academy, especially to the local young people who want to become an expert in Maritime and FisherÂies in the coming future. Young people are trained to pay their most attention for the sustainÂability of the surrounding enviÂronment as well as to perform the island as the clean fisherÂmen village with typical IndoÂnesian hospitality.
The wooden boat arrived sharply at noon time and deÂspite of the old harbor gate, I saw many local tourists comÂing that weekend for a one day trip. They must live in the village near by the harÂbor. Untung Jawa islands is a little bit different from the ones at Pramuka and Tidung islands where the facility are more completed even the two islands are far enough from JaÂkarta. First day at Untung Jawa islands was to go around the hostel that is only few meters from the beach,
The next morning, after a quick simple breakfast, I rent a bicycle and had a little tour on my own. I smell the fresh fisherman village and passed the shore which was not really clean like those in Kotok and Sepa islands. Going little far from the centre of crowd, I saw a Mangrove forest where the loÂcal ibu doing her responsibility for the goodsake of the island she lives in. This local ibu has learned about the reclamation of Mangrove, she harvested the young mangrove and planted again at the edges of the sea. She said, she wanted to see her islands without any problem in the future. In this islands, it is forbidden to use Styrofoam in order to keep the environÂment green. I saw some young men taking all the islands litters wearing their nice orang jacket, they are the clean heros of the islands.
From Untung Jawa islands you can rent a wodden boat with some friends to explore the nearest islands, to discover the treasure that might be not exposed, who knows? Enjoy your time…and do what you like most, like I did in this pretÂty enough islands.
