HOW COOL DOING COSPLAY IN JAPANESE STYLE

Teens Fashion Street in Indonesia is currently split­ted into two styles; Harajuku and Korean Street. Both styles are similar, but each style has ar­gued that the style they use is more “cool” than others. Korean style for girls is a Shy girl while Harajuku is more expressive with colors com­bination and type of clothing worn, some­times even colliding colors but still stylish.

Cosplay (Kosu­pure) is an Eng­lish term from Japanese words (wasei eigo), which is a combination of the word costume and play. Cosplay means having hobby to wear clothes along with accessories and makeup like the characters in anime, manga, video games, singer idol. Cosplay Performer is called co­splayer.

Cosplay has been well-known in the United States since 1960, at the Scientific-Fiction Conven­tion. At that time the convention attendees dressed up as figures of science fiction film like Star Trek.

The tradition of organizing science fiction convention fur­ther came to Japan in the 1970s, and for the first time cosplay show was held in 1978 in Ashinoko, Kanaga­wa prefecture. While in Indonesia has just been known in the 2000s.

Fans of cosplay including cosplayer and non-cosplayer spread out around the world, like in the US, Europe, China, the Philippines and Indonesia.

Annisa Rizka Nuraini Gunawan (17) a girl who was born in Yogyakarta is one of many fans of cosplay as well as the model. Anissa, as she is usually called started to like cosplay since she was in the 8th Grade, about 5 years ago. It was by his elder broth­er, Muhammad Rizky Fauzan Gunawan that she likes the activities that challenges her creativity. The first character she likes was Amu Hinamori after she saw anime Shugo Chara. She likes Hinamori knowing that character is a portrait of a coquette girl with her simple style, just the same style she has. Annisa, a young talented girl who now loves to use make up.

After successfully imitating Amu Hin­amori, Annisa had tried another anime characters such as Mirai Kuriyama – beyond the boundary (beyond the bound­aries), Rikka Takanashi – Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions !, Kousaka Honoka – Love Life; casual style, Itou Kashitarou (female version) – Utaite (Niconico Singer) and some others.

Besides doing creativity with cosplay, Annisa has also a dance group called Kiseki No Melody or the miracle of melody. In Kise­ki No Melody, Annisa wore original charac­ter costume and performing dance from Niconico Dancer.

Annisa who lives with her parents in Medan is also a member of “Medan Cosplay Community: and often follow various activi­ty held by the Faculty of Japanese Literature USU such as Bunkasai and other activity like Clas:h 2015. When asked by Bogor Today by telephone call from where she gets all her cosplays?.

Do you still keep your cosplay costume after you wore it? “No, I have no more with me,” All the cosplays that have been used, were already sold to other cosplayer through online shop. The buyers were from Jakarta, Bandung and Medan. What about the price? “It varies and it depends on the type of goods,” said the youngest of Gu­nawan and Dewi Alam Sari. “I have sold a complete costume of Rikka Takanashi’s character to a cosplayer buyer from Jakarta amounting IDR 380.000,“said Annissa shy­ly when ending the conversation.
