Sukabumi is part of a district in Tatar Sunda, West Java Province. The regency’s capital is Palabuhan Ratu. The district bordered with Bogor Regency in the north, Cianjur ReÂgency in the east, the Indian Ocean in the south, and Lebak in the west and is the second largest district in Java after Banyuwangi in East Java Province.
The Sanghyang inscriptions found in Cibadak clearly states that the area around Sukabumi RegenÂcy was inhabited by human since the 9th century AD. The inscripÂtion mentions the prohibition from ruler, the Kingdom of Sunda locals was to catch fish. There is also other historical relic namely Pasir Datar inscription which was found in CiÂcantayan but has not yet translated and so that the content remains unÂknown.
The government of Special ReÂgion of West Java, has targetted the West Java Provincial Government has targeted the development of inÂternational fishing ports in PelabuÂhan Ratu Sukabumi which is schedÂuled to start next year.
As is known that international fishing ports in Pelabuhan Ratu has lain dormant for three years. CurÂrently, Pelabuhan Ratu has its own status which is as a fishing port NuÂsantara (PPN), and will become the Ocean Fishery Port (PPS). The ultiÂmatum was already submitted to the relevant local government so that the construction is over soon realÂized, because otherwise the grant funding from abroad will be attractÂed by the headquarter and will be transferred to the development of other ports, “ said a staff who did not want his name to be exposed.
